The pioneering efforts and development of this major Planned Community are
important to legacy families, more recently arriving residents, as well as to American
history in general.

Out of the 95,000+ entries in the National Listings of Historic Districts, only 2% focus
on African-American history. SANS Historic District is part of that 2%. We are proud
of the SANS area history and want to ensure the area continues to exist and is
recognized for many future generations.

The American legacy should be maintained and not lost.
The SANS Sag Harbor Organization, comprised of 20+ SANS Historic District
residents representing all subdivisions, led the SANS Historic District effort,
obtaining both State and National listing of Historic Places in the Library of
Congress.
